In order to advance our tactics superiority in airsoft games, we are going to analyze documentaries on special operations trainings. We will analyze each video to provide commentaries on tactics that can be applied to airsoft. In this article, we are going to examine the "Navy SEALs - The Silent Option".
0:43 The point man stops, hold up a fist. That signals everyone behind to stop. When the point man sees the coast is clear, he waves the rest of the team forward. You can use the same tactics in airsoft. Just make sure you provides the proper signal if you are the point man. And be sure to follow the hand signal orders if you are behind the point man.
4:16 You see that, as the Navy Seal traverse in the water, each team member is looking in different direction. They are all covering a different sector, looking for potential threat. This tactic is very similar, if not exactly the same as the U.S. Marine MOUT Tactics. In airsoft, your fire team should perform the same sweep and assess in different firing sectors to provide 360 degrees security.
5:34 Coordinated Move and Shoot Maneuver. Seal team demonstrates an encounter with the enemy. The first three man are laying down suppression fire. The point man disengages. As he move past the second element, he pats the second man to pass the baton. He moves to the end of the team, finds cover, and covers the team's back. The second element is now point and repeats the process.
9:36 Use Correct Load-Out. The Seal team is inserted onto the oil rig, which is extremely tight quarter environment. All team members carry H&K MP5 with collapsible stock for its compactness in CQB. However, notice that the Seal team member in the helicopter uses the M4. Your load-out need to be correct for the situation.
11:54 Four man Navy Seal team captured an off-shore oil rig. It was fortified by 23 Iraqi soldiers. This demonstrates that if you have a coordinated fireteam, you can defeat enemies that is out numbering you. That means, on an airsoft field with equal number players, superior tactics will win. Note their closeness in stacking and their covering of different firing sectors.
12:56 Parameter Security. Note the Seal team standing in a line on an open field with no cover. Their sights are at eye level. They are all covering different directions. You can see that very clearly at 13:20. They are spread apart by about 10 feet each. Only the team member on comms is right next to the second element.
24:55 Communication. On patrol, the Navy SEALs encounters enemies. Immediately, the team members who spotted the enemy calls out, "Contact left!" Develop a habit of communication among your team members.
26:59 The only thing worse than losing is quitting.
33:25 Fast is slow. Slow is quick. Front sight focus. Trigger Squeeze. Discipline and control.
34:20 Room Breach. Four team members immediately enters a room, lines up on the wall with the door, and eliminates all the threats in the room.
35:06 Prevent Muzzle Sweep on Breach. Navy SEAL uses the high-ready position, shown in this scene. Every team members behind the point man enters the room with the gun at high ready, until he enters the room. Note the fourth man actually pushes the third man forward slightly to communicate room positioning.
35:15 Communication. Once again, team members yells out "clear left", "clear right", and "all clear" to identify whether the room has been cleared properly.
35:50 "Four men, coming out." Again, communication is really important.
44:55 Watch Your Six! This portion of the video demonstrates that the last man of the team should always sweep the rear as he moves. He's got to ensure enemies doesn't sneak up on the rear.
