Today, during test firing of my APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 airsoft gun, it just stopped firing all of a sudden. I don't mean it dry fires with no pellet, I mean it just stopped; as in all quiet. I thought maybe it's the battery, but normally the gearbox would click if the battery is low. But I charged the battery up anyway. After plugging in the fully charged battery, it still will not fire.
I listened to the gearbox carefully without battery and with battery. There is definitely a distinct difference in sound. When the battery is not plugged in, there is, obviously, no sound. On the other hand, with the battery installed, there is a soft 'clack' sound. After listening to it more, I suspect it is the motor attempting to turn, but couldn't. Locked gearbox?
First thing to do is to remove the motor from the handgrip and see if the battery, motor, and wires are good. After pulling the motor out, the motor tuns with the trigger pull. So the battery, motor, and gearbox wiring are good. Locked gearbox . . .
Most likely the motor has over turned, causing the anti-reversal latch to lock the gearbox. There is a quick way to reset the gearbox when it's locked in this manner: Resetting a Locked Version 2 Gearbox.
Using that method worked in this case. The gun is firing once again. If this problem happens to you, try this resetting method.
