Project Gutenberg has a free, short book on the #tactics of snap #shooting. The book is titled, "A. B. C. of Snap Shooting ". The book is written in 1880 for real firearms, but the basic tactics and training is still applicable today. In fact, the method of training is well suited for airsoft. In the book, snap shooting is defined as follows, which is exactly what is needed in an airsoft game:
"Snap shooting is the throwing of both the rear and front sights of a gun into line between the eye and the target and pulling the trigger, all in one motion, and is distinguished by that name from any shooting where the aim is leisurely taken, by bringing the piece to the shoulder, getting the sights in line, hunting the target and pulling the trigger when the aim is most steady."
The book provides rules for practice and competition for moving targets, forcing you to snap shoot. Even though most rifles in 1880 are bolt-action rifles, the book does talk about "REPEATING RIFLE", which you can substitute with semi-automatic rifle. It provides additional challenges for these advanced rifles in snap shooting situations. Finally, at the end of the short book, it provides feats that real people has performed in history. It will be very interesting to try to duplicate these feats using airsoft rifles.
