When I first seen the CAA Tactical RONI: The Pistol-Carbine I was confused. Why would anyone need to convert a pistol into a carbine? If you needed a carbine, a M4 will do much better than a pistol in a carbine converter. So why would you do that?
I am not going to comment about why you'd do something like that with real firearms. But recently, I have realized their uses for airsoft pistols. So I will talk about that.
The #1 reason to use a carbine conversion kit on an airsoft pistol... so you can have a carbine in a pistol-only airsoft game. Many fields host pistol and shotgun only games. There are also many zombie airsoft game scenarios that are pistol only.Someone who loves carbines, like me, is generally dissuaded by these types of games. With a carbine conversion, I can have the stability of a carbine in a pistol game.
Another reason, if you like pistols and also like to have a lot of accessories, then using a carbine conversion kit makes sense. Most pistols have a single bottom Picatinny rail. You can mount one accessory at most. In fact, you can't even use a red dot sight with the bottom rail. A carbine converter is basically a quad-rail for pistols. Now, you can have many accessories as you can have on a real carbine in a pistol-only airsoft game.
