Is Aimshot Black Thermal Heatseeker a Good Alternative to Thermal Imaging Scope?

So, I've been looking at technology advantages on the airsoft battlefield. Thermal imaging scope is the game changer right now. But at a few thousand dollars a pop, it's hard to justify. (See our "Super Unfair Advantages that Money Can Buy in Airsoft" article.) Therefore, I've been looking for alternatives.

One such alternative is the Aimshot Black Thermal Heatseeker that I found on Amazon. This device allows a hunter to track game using heat signature. It operates very similar to a thermal imager, except it doesn't show you a picture. Instead, you wave it side-to-side. When it detects a heat difference, it alerts you via LED or sound (a earphone is included). It can detect heat sources up to 300 yards away.

The review mentions that it's sensitive enough to detect a small game, like a squirrel or a bird. Therefore, it will definitely have the capability to detect humans for airsoft purpose.

Question is, will this really work for airsoft? I suppose it isn't useful for a short game on a small field. But what about a three hour operation on a large field? What about for night operations?
