My friend had a JG G36. When he told me that he has a problem where the 0.2g BB curves upward even at the lowest hop-up setting, I didn't quite believe there is nothing wrong with his gun.
But I recently experienced the same problem on my Echo1 Red Star IGOR. It's got a version 3 hop-up and at the lowest setting, the 0.2g BB curves up when shooting out to 100 feet. I have taken the hop-up apart many times. But there is nothing wrong with it. I've change hop-up nubs and buckings, but the problem still persisted. So far, I have not been able to put my finger on it.
When I experimented with 0.25g BBs, I noticed that the heavier mass of the 0.25g BB had a quicker drop than the 0.2g BBs. This is a cheap and easy way to solve this particular hop-up problem. I realize that my VSS is a outdoor sniper, therefore I will not need to shoot anything lower than 0.25g with it. Using the heavier BB causes the BB to curve down slightly. A slight upward hop-up adjustment made it shoot straight onto the red dot.
