Magpul's motto on its web site is "Unfair Advantage". Obviously, they are talking about buying their real firearm equipment. Along the same line of thought, what are some unfair advantages that you can buy for airsoft? And when we say "unfair", we REALLY mean unfair. Let's examine them in this article.
The ATN Thor320-1x Thermal Weapon Sight 320x240, 19mm, 30Hz is the ultimate night vision scope for your airsoft gun. It mounts to the top of your gun via Picatinny weaver rail. With color OLED display, it project the color thermal images and reticle clearly and sharply. No more need for your brain to analyze the night vision scene to pick out enemies. The enemy heat signature shows clearly as bright yellow, versus the cool blue of the surround. Its $5,499 price tag is a small price to pay to dominate any airsoft field in the night. The ATN Thor320 is also available with various magnifications. But with most airsoft fields, you it's unlikely you'll need more than the 1x version.
If you want to talk about unfair advantage in sheer firepower, then look no further than the Echo1 M134 Minigun. This gatling style minigun delivers airsoft BBs at 395 FPS. As soon as you start shooting, your enemies will duck for cover. And you can keep them there with its 1700 rounds magazine. No other guns can match your firepower on the field. And at a cost of $3495, it's unlikely that your opponent will bring the same minigun to match your firepower. Just make sure you build up enough strength to wield this minigun, because it is made out of full metal and weights 30 lbs with its 12v SLA battery.
The Systema Training Weapon M4 MAX CQB M150 is a M4 airsoft rifle that is "true 1:1 replica in weight, form fit and function that shoots .25 gram, 6MM bbs with or without marking abilities." Much like the real M4, the Systema Personal Training Weapon (PTW) requires you to cock the charging handle and release the bolt before firing the first round of every magazine. So while everyone else is just playing airsoft, you are actually training for the real thing. At a cost of $1,645.99, this unfair advantage doesn't come inexpensively. But when you are training for a situation where your life is on the line, it's a no-brainer.
